I read onlin that this platform is LUA based (as this forum name suggests) . What kinds of applications can this support? How about video?

re: web page

Currently, our LUA-based devices do not include a web browser or HTML viewer. We are working on adding this feature, however, and should have more to announce soon.

Thanks,

Video is supported

All Sparkpad devices support video and include sample applications within the source code that handle playback, including UI for controls such as pause/play/etc.

For more on the capabilities of the platform check out this page:

Re: Can it display a web

Yes, we are rolling out our HTML5 platform now.

Currently, our 10" touch display is available with our HTML platform and can programmed easily to display a web page. You can purchase a sample here:

https://www.sparkpad.com/account/order/10-inch-touch-display

Our HTML5 platform will be available soon on our 8" tablet and 15" large display.

Can the app on my Sparkpad be modified or updated?

If I build my own app for my Sparkpad, and you manufacture a bunch of them and ship them to me. What happens if I want to upgrade my app? Is there an interface or method for upgrading the main app that drives the interface?

You can upgrade your app(s)

You can upgrade your app(s) in one of two ways on our LUA-based devices:

- Remote update: The SDK includes sample code for activating a "remote update" feature, whereby software updates can be deployed over a network (including the Internet) to each device from your server

- Manual update: Any end-user can update the software on their device by copying the required files to an SD card or USB flash drive, inserting it into the appropriate port on the device, and restarting the device. The update will start automatically.
